Scottish Towns
Callander view lthough now in Stirlingshire, the little town of Callander was once in Perthshire - part of the civil parish of Callander. Nestling in the heart of the Trossachs, an area of natural beauty and breathtakingly beautiful scenery, Callander attracts tourists from all over the world. Callander is from the Gaelic Calastraid, and may relate to the small hamlet of Staid a little to the east.

allander and the surrounding area offer a wealth of quality accommodation to suit every requirement; everything from an overnight stay at a welcoming Bed and Breakfast to an extended holiday at one of the many Guest Houses and Hotels. There is also a pleasing choice of friendly tearooms and restaurants.

he magnificent scenery around Callander defies description regardless of the season; the snow-capped peaks of Ben Ledi (2,873ft) in winter, the sparkling waters of the river Teith in spring, the wild mountain flowers in summer and the gold and amber hues of Autumn.
The 19th century saw this Gateway to the Highlands become a popular tourist attraction and it was here that Sir Water Scott chose for his setting of "The Lady of the Lake".

Deep waving fields and pastures green,
With gentle slopes and groves between,
These fertile plains, that soften'd vale,
Were once the birthright of the Gael.

Whilst Callander offers the visitor every amenity, it retains the visual gentility of yesteryear in it's attractive main street of Regeny style houses with their elegant facades.
