From April to September cricket has been played in Meigle since 1876.

The Club plays at Victory Park at weekend afternoons and, with cars parked in the ground, picnics are popular. Practice Nights 6pm Monday and Thursday.

Currently a first, second and under 15 XI play in the Strathmore Union. An overseas coach plays every year and strengthens the coaching for youngsters upwards.

With Scotland players at all levels in their history, the Club has strong village and farming support. This shows in the family names carried over many years.

Success has come as Union Champions in 1929, 1954, 1961, 1980 and 1998.

The Brownies meet each week and all girls aged between 7 and 10 are most welcome.

Activities include making Christmas presents of the senior citizens of Meigle and fund raising for charities. The girls enjoy badge work, including working toward the First Aid badge. For summer 2000 we aim to do walking and map reading.

The Guide movement has been in Meigle Village since 1921 and this year we have a varied programme of meetings. We have enjoyed the out of doors in the better weather with cookouts, nature rambles and a visit to the park to eat ice-lollies and try out the new sitters that we made! We had an almost 6 mile hike up Alyth Hill, eating our packed lunch at the top, which the girls all said they enjoyed AFTER it was completed! The girls are all keen cooks and eaters and have tackled many dishes, including making their own pasta from scratch! We have tackled some new crafts, including tie-dye, fabric stencilling and paper mashie puppets. Fund-raising has taken the form of two Discos, the funds from the first being sent to Cheshire Homes in Swaziland to help with their work. The profit from the second helped us to stock up on paint, glue, scissors and shelving to keep our materials safe from mice!
Outings have included swimming nights and a memorable trip to local business Scott-Exley Leathers, which we all enjoyed immensely.
For the first Thinking Day of the 2000's we cooked our breakfast in Belmont Park before Church service and were blessed with a lovely clear, frosty morning and saw the sun rise on our part of the Guiding world! For the future, a bike ride and hopefully a sleep-in are plnned. We have a week at the Trail 2000 camp at Tannadice in July and a request to the major supermarkets for the girls to help with bag-packing in the run-up to Christmas 2000. There is nothing like thinking ahead!
