New photo to follow he Logierait Hotel stands on the site of the old courthouse, which was from where justice would be administered (up until 1746).
The Church at logierait (well worth a visit) was founded by St Cedd around 650. Cedd was a missionary of the Celtic church of Iona.

ne of two brothers, they toured and travelled staying for some time in the Tay Valley before moving on to the Holy Isle of Lindisfarne. The present Church, founded around 1800, is built on the foundations of the original Culdee church. A Pictish cross in the churchyard is believed to be over 1000 years old. There are tombstones there depicting early biblical scenes, themselves as old as 300 years.

here is a particular stone built into the Church wall which commemorates one Alexander MacKenzie, the first liberal Prime Minister of Canada. He was born at Clais-an-deoir (Vale of Tears) where the friends and loved ones of the criminals convicted at the courthouse were executed just beyond at Tomnacroich (Gallows Hill).

Cuil-an-Daraich, currently a childhood heritage centre, was built in 1864 as a poorhouse, serving eleven parishes in Highland Perthshire. Unlike in England and Wales, the Scots Poor law of 1845 allowed outdoor relief (assistance for the poor in their own homes). The poor houses were used for those disadvantaged by age, illness and disability.
