There is good reason for golfers to consider Carnoustie one of the toughest courses to play in Britain, contending as they must with the winds sweeping in from the North Sea. Yet, by way of compensation for those who visit the town for reasons other than golf, it has a remarkable record for long hours of sunshine!

his part of Scotland's east coast is well known for its fine sandy beaches so Carnoustie has long been a favoutite seaside holiday resort, with all the amenities you would expect.
